4. Third Lethal Injection Fail in Alabama Causes a Pause in Executions

Governor Kay Ivey issued a statement to review the execution process and not schedule any more until the review is complete. Kenneth Eugene Smith's execution is the second lethal injection fail in two months, with the third fail occurring in 2018. 5. Beijing Covid Cases Rise While Deaths Increase

China reports its first deaths in six months from Covid-19 even though mass-testing, quarantines, and lockdowns are still in place. However, this did occur after international quarantine times were reduced. Three people in Beijing died last weekend, and infections are rising. 6. "Love is Blind" Couple Succumb to Cheating Rumors

Fans were crushed when watching "Love is Blind" star SK say "I do not" at the altar. However, to everyone's surprise, the two decided to continue to date and marry when they were both financially and mentally ready. However, cheating allegations have now appeared in the relationship, with SK's ex-girlfriends or women who have had affairs with him providing screenshots on TikTok. 9. Steve Jobs' Old Sandals Are Auctioned Off

Steve Jobs' Birkenstock sandals were auctioned off, expecting to bring in around $60,000. However, these used shoes that were formed to his feet and from the 1970s sold for around $220,000 instead. This is the most anyone has ever paid for a pair of sandals, setting a record. US News

11. Fentanyl Awareness for High Schoolers

Lehman High School has put up warning posters for fentanyl usage. Two fatalities from fentanyl occurred the summer before school started, and two more fatalities occurred during the first month of the school year. The overdose problem is happening nation-wide. In 2021, over 107,000 people died of drug overdose, with around 71,000 of them being from fentanyl and other opioids of the same kind. A lot of teenagers using synthetic opioids are unaware of what they are buying. KHN



12. Law Enforcement Expanding Crime Scene after Murders

Around a week ago, four University of Idaho students were stabbed to death and found in a home a few blocks from campus. The crime scene has been expanded into the woods in order to find the weapon the killer used. So far, there are no suspects in custody. Fox News Channel



13. Arkansas Drought Could Affect Christmas Tree Stock

Wonderland tree farm says they have plenty of Christmas trees this year but have had to work extra hard to supply them by watering them day and night. The drought has caused other farmers to lose their trees and seedlings. Farmers are hoping this year's drought will make little impact on trees five years from now, as they will be ready to sell. 5News



14. Canada's Homicide Rates Have Increased

The rates for homicide in Canada have reached a sixteen-year high, with 788 reported homicides in 2021. The national rate has risen by three percent. The overall increase is occurring in Ontario and British Columbia. CTV News



15. Katie Ledecky Shatters World Record in Swim

In her first race at the FINA World Cup meet, Katie Ledecky broke the world record in the 1500m freestyle. The thirty-lap race took her 15 minutes and 8.24 seconds, beating Sarah Wellbrock at 15 minutes and 18.01 seconds. NBC Sports
